Getting Better At Driving

Three days into my new duties and my tractor trailer skills admittedly need a little brushing up. Though I drove a bigger trailer today with a 3 axle tractor for the first time and didn't do too bad at backing up into Arden or one of our warehouses in Campbell. I do enjoy driving the tractors and if things go bad here, I wouldn't be adverse to buying my own truck and giving it a whirl. Hopefully, it won't come down to that.
Mel was by the plant last Saturday in his tractor. He was picking up some machinery from our mailroom and delivering it to one of our sister plants in Concord. He made sure to show me the sign that said "Owned and Operated by Mel" (Well, it says the rest of his name but I have a habit of not putting up people's last names on the blog)
Mel was very proud. I told him that I was happy for him.

I checked with Jeremy the Fleet Manager and I'm short a day or two for vacation next week. This is the first Turkey Week I'll have ever taken off at the paper, I did have Turkey Week off in 2000, the year I was injured and recovering from surgery. I'm still taking the week off and I'm asking for the following Monday and Tuesday off as scheduled days off. This is one of the reasons I took the vacation relief job, I have this kind of flexibility. I worked another day of OT last weekend so I think I'm good.
Marie is coming out for her days off. She liked camping when she met me in Red Bluff. Sandy Beach isn't as luxurious as Red Bluff but its still camping.
