I saw in the paper today that someone was shot to death at the Occupy Oakland camp. Mayor Quan's first mistake was to let them pitch tents and the second one was to let them back once the police cleared them out.
Now, I'm not disagreeing with the focus of the Occupy message and I'm impressed that the Occupy Oakland people got the Port of Oakland to shut down. But as soon as you have the violent "anarchists" involved, trouble is bound to follow. And it has.
A couple of my nieces work in downtown Oakland and they don't feel safe walking the street in broad daylight anymore. This is now the message being sent by the "99%"
And, I wonder how many of these 99%ers vote? If the Tea Party can make change in government (change I certainly do not approve of and neither does Jesus), why can't the 99% register to vote and vote the bums out?
I guess it is easier to bankrupt the small businesses of downtown Oakland and the City too for that matter. Don't think for a second that these officers from OPD, the ACSO and other responding departments are not banging for serious OT.
